Our Trustees, Mission, Vision and Values Statement
Our Trustees
The Board of Trustees, are all volunteers, who are responsible for all strategic decision making, including business planning and financial management. RAID is a user-led organisation that provides advice and support to Disabled people. We have Trustee vacancies for Disabled people and any campaigning, marketing or legal skills would be a bonus. On joining our board, you will receive a full induction to our organisation and the role you will play as Trustee.

Join in on a Board meeting to find out more and explore the role you could play. If you are interested in becoming a trustee please contact us on info@raid.charity or call 020 3393 7011 for more information.

Our History
RAID was established as a registered charity in 1988. The organisation began as a telephone advice line with Disabled advisors. It became an incorporated charity in 1999 with a governing document that requires 51% of the Board of Trustees to be Disabled or have personal knowledge of disability.
RAID has a variety of advice, well-being services as well as services in the community that help people to remain independent. More recently we are delivering services in Kingston borough as well as London Borough of Richmond upon Thames. Visit our Advice Service page to learn more about the services we offer and see our Volunteering Opportunities page to learn how you can volunteer with us.

Social Model of Disability
We believe in a Social Model of Disability in which people with impairments are disabled by the way society is run and organised. We support the Cultural Model of Deafness that celebrates Deaf people’s linguistic culture and language.
Our Impact
Our services continue to grow, reaching and supporting more people every year. The infographic shows key achievements from our 2023–2024 Impact Report, highlighting how we’ve supported Disabled people and those with long-term health conditions across all our services.
From advice and counselling to digital inclusion, peer support, and community projects. Our teams work together to remove barriers and create opportunities for independence and wellbeing.
