BuddyUp Volunteers
Our BuddyUp Coordinators, Beatriz and Eliana, attended Esher College’s recent Volunteer & Working Opportunities Fair. They were there to promote the volunteering opportunities available to students within our BuddyUp service.
We were delighted some students contacted us about volunteering before Beatriz and Eliana had even returned from the fair!
Our service matches young people with a volunteer ‘buddy’ who supports and encourages them to access activities such as bowling, crafts, movies, public transport etc. whilst building a real friendship.
A volunteer recently told us:
“It has been great getting to know my young person and gain an insight into his hobbies and interests over the past 6 months. I’ve also enjoyed seeing him gain confidence each outing – building up to visiting the science museum together was such a milestone and a brilliant day out. BuddyUp has been a wonderful opportunity to expand my communication skills and provide care for people, as I am passionate about Disability support. I would recommend it to anyone considering being a volunteer, as I feel I have gained many skills that will benefit me in the future.”
Would you like to volunteer for Buddy Up or know someone who’d be a great Buddy?
Please have a look at our website for further information on how to become involved.
