RAID – Locked Out: The Housing Crisis Facing Disabled People in Richmond 2026

This report highlights the challenges within the current housing system in the borough of Richmond and presents a clear framework for change. At the heart of this work are the voices of Disabled people. The report has been co-produced with Disabled people and people living with long-term health conditions.

Over the last two years RAID has held forums, workshops, and ongoing engagement, where people have shared their experiences openly and shaped every stage of this report. We have worked collaboratively to bring together lived experiences, insights, and evidence to better understand the barriers people face and identify meaningful solutions. Their contributions have been vital in ensuring the findings and recommendations in the report are grounded in real-life experiences and reflect what truly matters.

As one participant shared: “It allows participants to have the space and time to speak freely about their lived experiences and to brainstorm and contribute as a group” and another “We gained a much clearer understanding of housing procedures — where to go, what to do, and how to navigate the system. For those of us with lived experience, this knowledge was invaluable.”

We would be grateful if you could take the time to read the report and reflect on its findings and recommendations. Your support and engagement are key to driving forward the changes that Disabled people in Richmond have called for.

A group of people sit in a semi-circle in a brightly lit room, listening as a woman presents slides from the RAID Housing Report: Crisis Facing Disabled People in Richmond. The atmosphere appears informal and engaging.
